Show Notes

What if God intends for the hard thing you have gone through (or are still in the middle of) to bless and encourage someone else? Brenda McDearmon discusses what it took to be brave enough to write and self-publish the lessons she learned in a difficult season. She also share why living with a sense of adventure in these empty nest years is so important. Want to tell your story? Or do you want to figure out how to live adventurously from the empty nest? Then take a listen!

Some Quotes:

  • God uses certain things in our lives to really mold us and shape us and grow us to be more like Him. And to trust in Him more. And so for us that pattern that God has used in our lives is job change.

  • Every time God took us through a job change or a job loss we came out on the other end hugely blessed in different ways. It’s been amazing what God has done with the struggles.

  • It took me some time to be brave enough to write my story.

  • Especially as women in the empty nest, we don’t have as much physical opportunity as our moms did to tell our testimonies to a large gathering. But we do have an online influence and hte ability to write our stories down. And publishing has never been easier.

  • I had to make myself open my laptop, and have that really quiet dedicated time and just write. And as I did it became something I looked forward to.

  • It took a lot of bravery and willingness to tell our story. But that story is important for the generations to come.
