Day 31: REMEMBERING God Is God Alone
EBENEZER: STONE OF HELP
The LORD is my ROCK and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, ROCK, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
... For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a ROCK, except our God? ~Psalm 18:2, 31
REMEMBER VERSE
"REMEMBER this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, REMEMBER the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.” ~Isaiah 46:8-9
DEVOTION
Who is my ROCK, who is my God, except the LORD?
The past 30 days of REMEMBERING how completely the Lord meets every need and how sufficiently He covers every problem convinces me that my feet belong NOWHERE except on Him.
When I forget what He does, I doubt. I fear when I look at myself instead of Him. I falter when I neglect His Word. I mess up when I ignore His truth. I hurt others and myself when I disregard His leading.
Forgetting is dangerous business that leads to short-term benefits appearing to outweigh eternal truths. Forgetting God’s truth allows fear’s whispers of, “You’re too messed up; you’re hopeless; God doesn’t love you,” to sound correct. If I forget He is always with me, I feel abandoned. If I forget He fights for me, I feel helpless when attacked.
REMEMBERING accomplishes the opposite. When I REMEMBER God’s Words of, “You’re loved; you’re forgiven; you’re created; you’re Mine,” my heart rests, my soul hopes, and my feet find security on my Rock. I’m safe because of Him.
Our devotional began with Samuel setting the Ebenezer monument, saying, "Till now the LORD has HELPED us." (1 Samuel 7:12b). Beloved, up to this moment the Lord has helped you. And every moment in your future He promises the same.
REMEMBER! He protects you. He is for you. He loves you.
REMEMBER and never forget.
REMEMBER the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered, ~Psalm 105:2, 5
PRAYER: Lord, I want to think on Your amazing work in my life all day. Please help me to never forget. And help me rest in the truth of who You are for me.
You have multiplied, O LORD my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. ~Psalm 40:5
PRAYER: Lord of the universe, thank You for acting for and thinking of me. Your love humbles me. But please let it also propel me to tell others of You and Your love.
