Day 30: REMEMBERING God Deserves Praise

31 DAYS REMEMBERING GOD-7.png

EBENEZER: STONE OF HELP

Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the ROCK of our salvation! ~Psalm 95:1

REMEMBER VERSE

I REMEMBER the days of old; I MEDITATE on all that you have done; I PONDER the work of your hands. I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. ~Psalm 143:5-6

DEVOTION

As we close out these 31 Days of REMEMBERING all the Lord is and does and says, how can we have any response but praise?

Read again our REMEMBER verse above. Sometimes we wander in the desert and our parched souls long for refreshment. The answer is to REMEMBER and PRAISE the Lord.

Every characteristic of the Lord we’ve REMEMBERED in this devotional deserves praise. He provides a refuge, He fights for me, and He trains me for battle. He never leaves me, He saves me, and He answers when I call. Because He is holy, faithful, and everlasting, He saves me, redeems me, and gives me joy. His Law protects me and I love His Word.

How is it I forget to praise Him just for Himself? I manage to REMEMBER to praise Him for stuff He supplies or a moment of success He allows. But why do I easily forget to praise the Lord only for Himself?

Here’s the reality: if all our business failed, if my family dissolved, if war raged and food became scarce, EVEN THEN I would never run out of truths about God to praise. His majesty and supremacy far outweigh the worst situation.

So I must REMEMBER to PRAISE the Lord. He deserves every utterance.

  • Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may PRAISE the LORD. ~Psalm 102:18

  • PRAYER: Lord, You are amazing and I praise You. Please help me to REMEMBER to praise You in front of my children. Show me how to pass on my love for You so that the next generation will praise You as well.

  • Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, "Amen!" PRAISE the LORD! ~Psalm 106:48

  • PRAYER: Thank You everlasting Lord of my life, for Who You are. You deserve every breath of praise I can give.

QUESTIONS

Look back in this devotional series. What aspects of the Lord stood out to you in a new or different way? Take time to praise Him for those.

Start a list of PRAISE, and fill it with truth about the Lord you want to praise. Add to it throughout the day as items come to mind.

CHALLENGE

Hang up the phrase, “Praise the Lord for Himself,” somewhere visible. For three days focus on only praising the Lord for who He is.

… to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my ROCK, and there is no unrighteousness in him. ~Psalm 92:15
