When I Am In A Funk, God Is Still Good

When I am in a funk, and can't find my way out...

When I can't find my smile, and the world looks gray...

When I don't like my husband, and my children irritate my last nerve...

When my work looms, and completion feels impossible...

When I hate cooking, and never want to prepare another meal...

When no clothes fit, except the ones I don't like...

When my hair won't work, and my reflection looks haggard...

When sighs feel like breathing, and laughter seems unnatural...

When I can't remember why...
           ~why I care
           ~why I try
~why I am supposed to keep trying

Even. Then.

Even then...
 -God is good
     -and on His throne
         -and holding the future
             -and redeeming the past
                 -and covering my sin
-and ready with open arms for me to return to His hope, His peace, and His lovingkindness

I change like a chameleon. I experience days of hope and faith as well as days of dark despair. But my inconstancy is covered by my Father's stalwart, immovable nature. My Lord is the same today, yesterday, and forever.

I am in a funk, but this too will pass, and when it does,
God will STILL be on His throne.

What are you in despair, O my soul?
And why have you become disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.
— Psalm 42:11, NASB
