When I’m Just Too Tired (Episode 8)

Episode 8

Sometimes I'm just so tired I'd rather complain than pray. But the good news is that there's a plan for our inner woman to be renewed and it's not by what we do. It ALL happens through Jesus! Come get super encouraged.

Show Notes

Ephesians 3:16 (NASB)- that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

  • Jesus isn’t surprised at my need for renewal in my deepest parts

  • The Holy Spirit is for my body as well as my heart and mind

Here are my cross-references, because more truth means more strength.

2 Corinthians 4:16 (NASB)- Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, YET our inner man is being renewed day by day.

  • It’s easy to lose heart, and might even be the “normal” response. It’s just that we have a reason not to

  • My outer body decaying is natural part of life. Aging is decaying. I don’t think we should embroider that on a pillow anywhere.

  • YET (favorite word)

  • There’s re-NEW-ing of my insides that doesn’t require hours of exercise or bottles of expensive creams like my outside renewing does.

Isaiah 40:29 (NASB)- He gives strength to the weary, And to [him who] lacks might He increases power.

  • God doesn’t condemn weariness.

  • He doesn’t send me off to get strong. He increases power. He gives strength. Because He’s good and He loves me.

  • And when He calls me to His service, He empowers me to do it

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NASB)- And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

  • But one of my thorns at this stage of life is my tired inner woman.

  • God didn’t remove Paul's thorn, He probably won’t mine.

  • BUT He provides GRACE that is sufficient.

    • SUFFICIENT: arkeo: one of definitions- to be enough.

    • ENOUGHNESS has eluded me for so long. But maybe that’s because I’ve listened to that liar’s voice.

    • God’s grace in me makes me enough.

Why do we need our inner woman strengthened?

  • Because, like in Episode 1, we’re not done yet

  • We have work to do, and like in Episode 2, it’s never too late to get started.

  • And in Episode 3, we’re never disqualified.

  • And in Episode 4, we’re never too old.

  • In Episode 5, Episode 6, Episode 7, we’ve a race to run so we need God to strengthen our knees and help us lift our hands.

  • It’s all connected.

Here’s one last verse, that was said to a people with a big job and little energy and lots of opposition.

  • Zechariah 10:12 (NASB)- "And I will strengthen them in the LORD, And in His name they will walk," declares the LORD.
