Day 6: REMEMBERING God Is Our Redeemer

EBENEZER: STONE OF HELP

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my ROCK and my REDEEMER. (Psalm 19:14 ESV)

REMEMBER VERSE:

They REMEMBERED that God was their ROCK, the Most High God their REDEEMER. Psalm 78:35 ESV

You shall REMEMBER that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God REDEEMED you; therefore I command you this today. Deuteronomy 15:15 ESV

DEVOTION

Redemption means transforming loss and pain into gain and joy.

It transforms problems into a spiritual gain, replaces shame with glory, and exchanges sorrow with joy. Redemption means no mistake is a waste and no failure is worthless. It is one of the most precious gifts our ROCK gives us.

But all those amazing benefits are only possible because JESUS. He takes every situation on Himself. He transfers us from slavery to freedom. Without our REDEEMER there’s no REDEMPTION.

It might seem impossible to REMEMBER that Jesus is up to all kinds of good stuff while in the middle of the junk. But when we REMEMBER our Ebenezer — our Stone of Help — still helps us, we can hold on while we wait for His redemption to show up. It always will.

  • For I know that my REDEEMER lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. Job 19:25 ESV

  • PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, my REDEEMER, that You are alive! You are active in my life and in my difficulties. I am so grateful for You. Please forgive me when I despair and forget that You are alive and right in the middle of everything.

  • Their REDEEMER is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name. He will surely plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth … Jeremiah 50:34 ESV

  • PRAYER: Thank You, my Strong Redeemer, for pleading my cause and for taking every difficult item in my life and covering it with Your grace.

QUESTIONS:

Write your own definition of redemption.

What situations in your life need redemption? Write down every item that comes to mind.

Circle the one that is the most difficult to trust Jesus with. Spend some time praying and asking the Lord to help you trust Him to redeem this one.

CHALLENGE:

Take a marker and write “My Redeemer Lives” over the top of the list you wrote down in second question above.

Ask the Lord to help you remember times of REDEMPTION in the past. Write every one down and thank the Lord for them.

Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: "I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god. (Isaiah 44:6 ESV)

All Scripture from the ESV. Emphasis added.

Tomorrow on Day 7 we will remember the God is Holy
