Day 19: REMEMBERING God Answers My Calls
EBENEZER: STONE OF HELP
from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the ROCK that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2 ESV
REMEMBER VERSE
On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will MEDITATE… The LORD is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them. Psalm 145:5, 17-19
DEVOTION
Nothing got my Mama heart beating like hearing one of my kids call, “MOM!” The volume and tone immediately informed me whether I needed to walk or RUN!
No matter how much of a stinker my child may have been, if he called out to me, I was there. HOW MUCH MORE will our Heavenly Father react to our cries.
Our Heavenly Father responds to us swifter and surer than I ever could as a parent. I simply need to cry, “ Abba!” and He responds. When I call Him, He answers. What an amazing promise.
He doesn’t require special sacrifices from me. I don’t have to fulfill any obligations or prove myself worthy. He’s not too busy with weightier matters. He answers because faithfulness, love, and dependability are His character.
Our Lord is righteous and kind. He is near. (Read Psalm 145:17-19 again.) Call to Him. He’s right beside you. He will answer.
"Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.” Psalm 91:14-15
PRAYER: Thank you for holding me in love, Lord. And for delivering, protecting, answering, and rescuing. You are so good and so loving and I never want to forget to cry out to you.
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15
PRAYER: Thank you for the promise that You will answer my prayers. Please help me to continue faithfully in prayer and to wait patiently for Your answers.
QUESTIONS
Psalm 145:18a says, “The LORD is near to all who call on him…” Think about the Lord being NEAR to you. Does that change your perspective? Does it make you more likely to call on Him?
Read Psalm 61:2 again. What are the advantages of our Rock being higher than us?
CHALLENGE
Get by yourself and spend time CALLING out to the Lord about your greatest concern. Imagine Him near and pour it all out to Him.
All Scripture from the ESV. Emphasis added.
Tomorrow on Day 20 we will remember the God Never Leaves Us.
