Day 17: REMEMBERING God Blesses Us

EBENEZER: STONE OF HELP

… the Mighty One of Jacob (from there is the Shepherd, the STONE of Israel), by the God of your father who will help you, by the Almighty who will BLESS you with BLESSINGS of heaven above … Genesis 49:24B-25A

REMEMBER VERSE

BLESS the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Psalm 103:2

DEVOTION

Many blessings in my life hide themselves behind the normalcy my abundance provides. Clean water from the faucets. Ever present electricity. Cars in the driveway. Heat or air conditioning as needed. Refrigerator with so much food some of it goes bad before we eat it all.

I’m blessed with family that loves me in spite of myself. I’m blessed with different circles of friends, with easy access to the Bible, with churches not considered illegal.

But most of all I am blessed with the fellowship of the Lord Jesus, who helps me, redeems me, surrounds me, and saves me. Relationship with the Lord surpasses the extravagant physical blessings I enjoy. Therefore, if the water became polluted, the electricity stopped, my family was destroyed, and I began being persecuted as a Christian— EVEN THEN I would be BLESSED.

I must stop and remember, in order to not forget. The Holy Lord chooses to bless His people with Himself, a benefit far above and beyond any temporal blessing I could hold in my hand.

HE IS the BLESSING.

  • Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! For he strengthens the bars of your gates; he BLESSES your children within you. Psalm 147:12-13

  • PRAYER: I praise you Lord for Your amazing love. Thank You for blessing Your people with love, protection, and relationship.

  • I will extol you, my God and King, and BLESS your name forever and ever. Every day I will BLESS you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. Psalm 145:1-4

  • PRAYER: Oh Lord, I never want to stop blessing You. You shower blessings upon me, but You deserve all the blessing I can return. Your greatness is immeasurable. Show me how to share You with my children and grandchildren, with my neighbors and co-workers, with my family and friends. Help me never be shy at declaring the praise You deserve.
