Day 15: REMEMBERING God Provides

EBENEZER: STONE OF HELP

"O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted, behold, I will set your STONES in antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires. I will make your pinnacles of agate, your gates of carbuncles, and all your wall of precious STONES. Isaiah 54:11-12

REMEMBER VERSE

And you shall REMEMBER the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, ... You shall REMEMBER the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:2a, 18

DEVOTION

It’s easy to thank the Lord AFTER He provides. When there’s excess, I wax elegant about my Provider. Speak of His extravagance. Proclaim His goodness.

But, when my lacks dwarf my faith and my needs overwhelm my money, it’s a different story. Fear and worry drown my trust. Times of provision in the past seem irrelevant to the threatening problem. Sure, Jesus fed 5000 with five loaves and two fish, but how does that help me now?

REMEMBERING is imperative when life feels impossible. When problems swamp my trust, I’m tempted to despair. But if I listen to the still, small voice, I hear, “Do not forget.” Don’t forget His provision. His gifts. His supply. His multiplication.

He gave Himself to meet our deepest need. He can meet whatever problem we have now.

  • Do you not yet perceive? Do you not REMEMBER the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? Matthew 16:9

  • PRAYER: Thank you Jesus for providing for my every need. Forgive me for doubting the moment circumstances seem uncertain. Help me trust You, my trustworthy Provider.

  • Therefore when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies around you, in the land that the LORD your God is giving you for an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven; you SHALL NOT FORGET. Deuteronomy 25:19

  • PRAYER: Oh my Lord, how easy it is to forget Your work and provision in my life. Please forgive me for being quicker to despair than to remember. Thank You for Your hand and Your gifts.

QUESTIONS

Start a list called “God Provides” and write down everything that comes to mind. Ask the Lord to help you REMEMBER all day long. No matter how many years ago it happened write it down.

Why do you think it’s so easy to forget the last time Jesus provided?

Would stress lower or fear subside if you BELIEVED the Lord would provide for your every need? Try it!

CHALLENGE

What situation currently looks impossible? Ask the Lord for provision for your needs and then THANK HIM IN ADVANCE. Walk in confidence that your providing Lord will take care of you.

All Scripture from the ESV. Emphasis added.
